  • Masha Qrella's second album, UNSOLVED REMAINED, sticks close to the post-rock leanings of her other band, Contriva, though at times more spare. The drum machine on the title track, for instance, accompanies a simple acoustic guitar before the effects start to pile up. "Sister, Welcome" has a touch of country music, but a very small touch. The gentle guitar work on the instrumental "No Matter" carries a moodiness with it, as does the short "Guided by the Stripes," though "Feels Like" perks things back up, while "Everything Shows" has some harsher electronic tones. "Destination Vertical" has a nice micro-house backing to it that helps make it stand out, and the slow gait of "My Day," is pleasing enough. Much like the album in general.
