Notes:

My recently departed musical friend Dr. Dave had written a song that I thought was quiet good but which didn't have any discernible chorus. Not that a song should have to have a chorus but in this case the accessibility of what he wrote seemed to be screaming for one. So as politely as I could, I asked him if it would be cool for me to tinker around with his tune and maybe add something to it. He said that would be fine, probably thinking I was just bullshitting. I went home that night and knocked out the "I'm not satisfied" hook. The next rehearsal, much to his surprise, I played for him a quick demo of how my chorus would work in his song. He sat down and listened intently. When it finished, he took a deep breath, flashed a warm smile and asked me if he could have the CD demo to listen to in his car. He needed to think it over. A few weeks went by and when we finally played his song again he kept to his original idea. I asked him about my addition and he kind of scooted around the issue and said something to the effect that he'd have to learn it but was too busy. I didn't press the issue. No matter. I just took my chorus and wrote a new song around it. And so it goes.
R.I.P Dave.
